The YT-28319 non-contact AC voltage detector features a built-in laser pointer. It detects the presence of voltage within an insulated wire as well as in the immediate vicinity. Voltage detection is signaled by a flashing LED and an intermittent audible tone.
The detector operates based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Upon activation, the device operates in low-sensitivity mode, detecting voltage at a distance of approximately 3 cm from the source. In high-sensitivity mode, it detects electromagnetic fields at distances of up to over ten centimeters from the source. The detector also enables the "non-contact" detection of breaks in live electrical wires; the device stops signaling the presence of voltage at the point of the break. Key features:

*Distance and sensitivity specifications are based on tests involving ~230 V mains voltage detection. The 15 cm detection range was achieved while measuring a live cable in an area free of metal objects or other elements that could interfere with the electromagnetic field.
