Application
checking the thickness of the varnish layer on aluminum and steel coatings
YATO YT-72901 Paint Thickness Gauge is designed for quick measurement of paint coating thickness on metal substrates. It automatically recognizes the type of substrate being tested – ferrous (Fe) or non-ferrous (NFe) – and displays the result directly on the matrix LCD screen. The measurement range is 0-2000 μm, allowing the device to be used for checking paint coatings on steel and aluminum components.
Key Features:
Measurement range of 0-2000 μm allows for measurement of both thin and thick coatings
Resolution of 0.1 μm in the range of 0-99.9 μm, 1 μm in the range of 100-999 μm, and 0.01 mm in the range of 1.00-2.00 mm
Automatic substrate recognition – Fe for ferrous metals and NFe for non-ferrous metals
Designed for measurements on steel and aluminum substrates
Non-destructive measurement method allows for thickness control without damaging the tested element
Matrix LCD display provides a clear reading of the result and measurement parameters
Ability to determine average, minimum, and maximum values based on a maximum of 10 most recent measurements
Count function informs about the number of readings included in the current measurement set
Memory allows for saving and reviewing up to 30 sets of measurement data
USB-C port is used for transferring saved measurement data to a computer; it is not intended for charging the device
Powered by 3 AAA 1.5 V batteries
Compact housing with dimensions of 130 x 58 x 30 mm and weight of 81 g facilitates portability and measurements in various locations
Precise Coating Measurement
The gauge allows for thickness control of coatings with resolution tailored to the measurement range. The accuracy is ≤ ±(3%H + 2 μm), where H represents the measured coating thickness. The minimum substrate thickness is 0.3 mm. When measuring curved surfaces, the minimum radius of curvature must be considered, which is 5 mm for convex surfaces and 25 mm for concave surfaces.
Measurement and Result Analysis
Measurements are performed by placing the probe perpendicular to the tested surface. After activating the Measure function, the device automatically recognizes the type of substrate and displays the measured coating thickness. To perform another measurement, the probe must be lifted more than 1 cm away from the surface and then re-applied to the tested area.
The gauge allows for analysis of a series of measurements. The parameters of average, maximum, and minimum values are calculated based on a maximum of 10 most recent readings. Saved results can be reviewed in the Data menu, which provides access to up to 30 sets of data.
Calibration
The set includes control plates and calibration panels intended for conducting control and calibration procedures according to the instructions specified in the device manual.
Operating and Storage Conditions
The gauge is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C. The storage temperature range is -20°C to +50°C.
NOTE: The offered product is not a measuring instrument within the meaning of the "Measurement Law".
